Survey to Guide Adoption Research
You are invited to help guide our research by telling us what topics matter to you regarding your experience of international adoption. Participants can be individuals who are 18 years or older and were internationally adopted in childhood OR parents who have adopted internationally.
This survey is collecting responses over a one year period and is conducted by Megan Gunnar, Ph.D. of the Institute of Child Development and Richard Lee, Ph.D. of the Department of Psychology, both at the University of Minnesota and the International Adoption Project.
The goal of the survey is to find out what is important and what kind of topics are of interest to individuals and their families who have experienced international adoption. This survey is intended to help us develop an extensive survey that covers issues of interest.
If you agree to participate in this survey, we would ask you to complete a 15 minute online survey that asks about your area of interests and current demographic information. At the end of the survey, you will have an opportunity to join the International Adoption Project (IAP) Adult Registry. Your email will be asked during the consent and will be used only for the purpose of notifying you if you are the winner of the drawing.
Risks and Confidentiality
There is minimal risk involved. Some of the questions in this survey may feel personal in nature, however, you are free to skip any questions you want. Records of this survey will be kept private. All survey responses transmitted via the internet will be de-identified.
Benefits and Compensation
There are no direct benefits for survey participation. You will not be compensated for sharing your insights with us, however, all participants who complete the survey will be entered into a random drawing for a $50 electronic gift card. The odds of winning the gift card is 1:1000.
Participation in this survey and the IAP Adult Registry is voluntary. Your decision whether or not to participate will not affect your current or future relations with the University of Minnesota or the International Adoption Project. If you decide to participate, you are free to withdraw at any time without affecting those relationships.
